Lakeland Side Table No. 1

Ash timber has been steam bent to form the base frame then coloured using natural stain created in the workshop from vinegar and steel wool. The steel wool reacts with the vinegar to give a rich olive grey colour that is then applied directly to the timber. The final finish is natural oil wax.

The table top is reclaimed slate. The natural slate textures have been enhanced by decades of exposure to the elements , giving each one a distinctive colouration and depth. Each slate still retains the original fixing nail holes in which copper nails have been reapplied. These are complemented by the burnished copper rails in the base.

The slate top is finished with hard wearing, water based varnish.
