Elm Footstools

A 300 year old elm tree in the grounds of the National Trust property, Plas Newydd on the Welsh island of Ynys Mon ( Anglesey) had to be felled in 2023. The forestry team planked and dried the wood which I am now turning in to furniture to give the wood a second life. The swirling grain and colours are amazing to see and make wonderful, unique pieces.
These stools are my first launch using the elm and are available in 3 sizes. The abstract shapes of the tops are designed to follow the flowing grain so will be slightly different sizes each time.
The final finish is natural oil wax.
